Carys Davies

Carys Davies has just won the Ondaatje Prize for her novel ‘Clear’ for writing that “best evokes the spirit of a place”.

I am a huge fan of Carys Davies’ fiction.

Here are three links to my reviews of her work.

‘Clear’ – A novel of Scotland

‘The Mission House’ – Traveling to India

‘West’ – Hunting for dinosaur bones out west in the United States

Happy Reading!

Thanks for bringing this writer to my attention! I vaguely recalled her name, but I’ve never seriously looked at her novels, which sound quite enticing (quickly clicked on your previous reviews). More books to check out — isn’t it wonderful? Can’t have too many. . . .

Nice round-up post. I loved West, which you introduced me to. Didn’t know about The mission House which I’d totally missed. Clear was on my radar. So, Mission House and Clear both heading for the TBR pile!

It’s good to hear from you, Max.

Besides Carys Davies, my favorite recent writer is Daniel Kehlmann, a German writer. His novel ‘Tyll’ was spectacular, and I am now just beginning ‘The Director’ with high expectations.
